Ableton Extensions

New

Automate and extend Ableton Live

Ableton Extensions are a new way to extend Ableton Live with custom tools and automations — built with JavaScript and TypeScript (using the Ableton SDK). Unlike Max for Live, Extensions run in all Live editions and require no additional add-ons. Batch rename clips, edit MIDI notes, render stems, and more — things that would take hours done in seconds.

Works in all Live editions

No Max for Live, no Suite required. Extensions install directly into Ableton Live — Standard, Intro, or Suite.

Batch automation

Rename every clip, edit MIDI notes across tracks, create scenes, and change device parameters — across an entire project at once.

Custom interfaces

Extensions can show modal dialogs with full HTML/CSS/JS — data tables, multi-step forms, and more — right inside Live.

Extensions vs. Max for Live — Extensions are for scripted automation and workflow tools. Max for Live is for real-time audio processing, MIDI routing, and custom instruments. They complement each other.
